FISHING: Pinckneyville 13th at Bass Fishing State Finals

Father McGivney Catholic School in Maryville claimed the IHSA's Bass Fishing State Championship this past weekend at Carlyle Lake, hooking six fish in the two-day tournament for a total weight of 19 6/16 lbs. Highland finished second (15 6/16), Durand was third (14 13/16).

Pinckneyville's #1 boat, manned by Jacob Louis and Cale Jausel, finished in 13th place of the 65 boats with a total weight of 8 3/16 lbs.

Pinckneyville's #2 boat - Kaylee Rulevish and Grant Murphy - weighed in at 2 12/16 lbs. for 30th place overall.

Two boats from Elverado High School also competed at Carlyle Lake - Lake of Egypt Sectional winners Justin Sarensen and Nolan Waller, and Sectional runners-up Alec Valerius and Zach Berner.
