Open house and ribbon cutting for Saline RMTD Maintenance and Operations Center

The Rides Mass Transit District Maintenance announced Monday that its new Harrisburg Maintenance and Operations Center in Harrisburg is completed.

The district will host an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a<span class="s1">.</span>m<span class="s1">.</span> on Wednesday, May 20 at 310 Frank Leberman Dr. in Harrisburg.

The open house will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p<span class="s1">.</span>m. The public is invited to tour the new facility and enjoy light refreshments. The Operations Center provides office space, a drivers' area, dispatch center and maintenance support for Saline County.

In this area, the district transports anyone in the counties of Saline, Gallatin, Hardin and Pope. Rides last fiscal year in these counties provided transportation to 12,000 to 13,000 residents per month. The residents shop locally, go to medical appointments, work, school, go shopping, meet friends, travel to the airport and Amtrak station, and visit senior centers. The district offers free public transportation for anyone and everyone.

Rides Mass Transit District is the public transportation provider for the eighteen southernmost counties of Williamson, Pope, Hardin, Gallatin, Saline, White, Hamilton, Wayne, Edwards, Wabash, Richland, Jasper, Crawford, Lawrence, Clark, Edgar, Cumberland and Effingham counties. The District's service area is a total of 7,379 square miles and has a combined population of 306,981.
