Velma M. Wiseman

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Velma M. Wiseman, 101, a resident of Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Galatia, died 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held following visitation 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Arrangements are in the charge of Sloan Funeral Home, Galatia.

She was born Aug. 3, 1907, in Galatia to Charles and Lillie (Rogers) Smith. She married Leo Wiseman, who preceded her in death in 1969.

She was a retired homemaker and cook and a member of Long Branch Baptist Church.

She is survived by a grandson, Jay Morthland of St. Louis, Mo.; a granddaughter, Susan (Dennis) Vaughn of Harrisburg; a great-grandson, Jesse Vaughn of Carterville; and a great-granddaughter, Jordan Vaughn of Carterville.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucille Morthland.
