TRACK & FIELD: Mays, Wheeler, Keith win at SIRR conference meet
Lady Indians Tarynn Mays and Shelby Wheeler and Lady Panther Sophie Keith each won conference championships at last Thursday's Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Girls Track & Field Meet held at Harrisburg.
Du Quoin finished third on the Mississippi Division side as a team, Pinckneyville was sixth. Carterville took home the win for the Mississippi, Herrin won the Ohio Division.
Mays took home first place in the triple jump at a distance of 35'1.25. Wheeler's time in her 100 meter hurdles win was 17.29.
Keith won the 400 meter run for PCHS with a time of 58.45.
Second place finishers for Du Quoin included Quinn Kirkpatrick, who broke the school pole vault record with a height of 7'0. She was also second in the 800 meters (2:35.57). Jaylyn Williams was second in the shot put (34'3.5), Grace Haney was second in the high jump (4'8), and Mays took second in the 100 meter dash (13.03).
For Pinckneyville, Keith finished second in the 200 meters (26.85) and Lexi Conner was second in the high jump (4'8).

Both Pinckneyville and Du Quoin are scheduled to compete at DHS on Monday before their respective Sectionals this Friday. PCHS will be at Nashville, DHS at Fairfield.
