LaVaughn 'Vonnie' McGuire
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[LaVaughn "Vonnie" McGuire, 82, of Fairfield and former resident of Gallatin County, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, at her home after an extended illness.
Vonnie, as most knew her, was born in Gallatin County on June 12, 1927, to the late Rudy and Hazel Phillips. Vonnie was married to Tom McGuire, who preceded her in death. She was retired from Frontier Community College as an art teacher, where she was teacher of the year in 1989. She was also a beautician working at The Red Carpet and volunteered many years in the Fairfield Fall Fun Fest. Vonnie was a beautiful person, always caring for others. She will be greatly missed.
Vonnie is survived by her sons, Craig Curtis of Fairfield, Tony (Lyla) McGuire of Mattoon, Mick (Denise) McGuire of Fairfield and Marty (Teresa) McGuire of Fairfield; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister Libby Farley of Fairfield; and caregiver and niece, Jackie Armstrong.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Azale Armstrong.
Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood. Local arrangements are entrusted to the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.
