</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Shirley Ann Daniels, 76, of Murphysboro, passed away at 12:35 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Pettett Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Webb and the Rev. Jim Frye officiating and burial at Murdale Gardens of Memory. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, and until 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro, or to the donor's choice in memory of Shirley.
Shirley was born on May 9, 1933, in Murphysboro, to Fred Carter and Lila (Law) Carter.
She had worked as a cook in the Murphysboro School District Unit No. 186.
Mrs. Daniels had attended the Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro. She liked to read and enjoyed cooking and helping others.
Shirley married Bob Daniels on May 7, 1950, in Murphysboro and he preceded her in death on Sept. 18, 2006.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Greg Dillard of Carrier Mills and Karen and Stephen Carvell of Mesa, Ariz.; one granddaughter and her husband, Julia and Michael DeRose of Chandler, Ariz.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Phyllis Carter of Murphysboro.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Carter and an infant brother, Teddy Carter; one sister, Bonnie Toler; and her parents.
