Mrs. Laverne Mae Jacobs
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mrs. Laverne Mae Jacobs, 67, of Eldorado, passed away at 1:13 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009, at Heartland Regional Hospital in Marion.
She was the wife of Charles "Chuck" Jacobs who survives.
Laverne was born in Chicago on Dec. 27, 1941, the daughter of the late Walter and Rose (Galecki) Toppa.
She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Eldorado.
In her early years she worked as a service manager for Jewel Food Stores in Chicago, and later at the Food Park in Fairfield where she became the bakery manager. As she closed that chapter of her life a new one opened and she assisted her husband Chuck as a stenographer and record keeper in his occupation as a physical therapist.
In addition to her husband Laverne is survived by two daughters, Kathlyn Mary (Barton) DeJarnatt of Fairfield and Natalie Ann Jacobs of Mt. Carmel; and a son, Jeffery Scott (Kazumi) Jacobs of Suwanee, Ga. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jenifer Jacobs, Justin Jacobs, Jacob DeJarnatt and Josie DeJarnatt; and two sisters, Loraine (Walter) Dobrolinsky of Huntley and Delores (Ronald) McKay of Oak Forest.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at at St. Marys Catholic Church in Eldorado at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2009, with Fr. Ignatius Okonkwo officiating. Burial will follow at Golden Cemetery in Flora. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
