The Falcons signed C.J. Penny (Lawrenceburg, Ky.) to wrap up their incoming class this season. SIC head coach Todd Franklin said he was excited to add Penny to the roster.
"He'll bring the ability to rebound, but more than anything, he's a very smart player who plays as a very high level," Franklin said in a phone interview.
Penny chose SIC over Vincennes, Indian Hills and several other junior college traditional powerhouses.
Last season, Penny averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds per game for Anderson County en route to a 26-4 record that lead to an appearance in the state quarterfinals. After starting as a freshman, Penny made the all-state team the last three years, including a first-team appearance a a senior.
Franklin said he likes the kind of versatility Penny will bring to the hardwood.
"He's got good senses on the floor; good vision, instincts and basketball knowledge," Franklin said. "He helps us because we run a lot of our stuff through the four. We also like a great deal of versatility from the two, three and four. We want those guys to be interchangable."
