OBITUARY: Olevia June (Macy) Routson
Olevia June (Macy) Routson died on April 30, 2015, in the Harrisburg Medical Center.
Previously, she lived at the Carrier Mills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrier Mills. She awaits the resurrection and judgement by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
June was born at home on June 20, 1916, to Jesse and Etta (Wood) Macy in Miami County, Ohio. She was the third eldest of nine children and graduated from Troy High School in Troy, Ohio. On June 7, 1941, she married Ellsworth Otto Routson, who preceded her in death in January 1975. She raised three children and as a pastor's wife, assisted her husband with his ministry at churches in Missouri, California, Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana and Illinois. Following her husband's death, she was employed as a nanny and as a caregiver to the elderly. June was a member of the Eldorado Restitution Church of God and was considered an elder of the church by her peers.
In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by her three children, Etta Marie Wetzel, Harold Routson, and Elizabeth Ann Poi; two brothers, Emory Macy and Laurel Macy; and two sisters, Bernedene Jones and Betty Schwier.
She is survived by sisters, Mary Ellen Jones, Juanita Smitley, Lorna Pearson and Carol Schmidlapp; sons-in-law, Conrad Wetzel and Charles (Chuck) Poi; daughter-in-law, Joan Routson; grandchildren, Debbie (Eric) Layman, Cherie (Lee) Abbott, Kristen Wetzel, Jennifer (Dan) Siderius, Jeff (Connie) Bahls, Jason Bahls, Mike (Sara) Poi, and Matt (Keri) Poi; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per her wishes, there will be no visitation. Pastor David Cheatwood of West Lebanon, Indiana, will conduct a graveside commitment service. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak, Indiana, on May 7, 2015. Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado will be handling funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and the Christian Community Compassion Center in Harrisburg.
