Fish Fry benefits Ownly, Billie Williams
The HELPS Committee of the Harvest Deliverance Center in Harrisburg is planning a Benefit Fish Fry on May 6 in Harrisburg Park.
The fish fry is to assist with medical costs for the family of the center's Pastor Ownly Williams and his wife, Roxie 'Billie' Williams. Ownly Williams has recently had major back surgery and his wife has been diagnosed with cancer. The family has only Medicare to supplement their savings in dealing with the costs of care and treatment.
"We wanted to do something to help our Pastor and his wife," said Lynne Tanner, one of the event organizers. "He has always given so much to others we felt it is the right thing to do to help them."
The fish fry will be held at the Patton Pavilion in the Harrisburg Park on Wednesday, May 6. The hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. "Or until we run out of fish!"
The menu is fish, hushpuppies, baked beans, cole slaw, potato wedges and a drink for $10 per plate and carry-outs will be available. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Harvest Deliverance Church at 38 S. Vine St., Harrisburg.
