Everett Roe
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Everett L. Roe, Sr., 84, of Shawneetown, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, surrounded by his family in Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Ind.
Everett was born near Ridgway on May 28, 1925, to the late Frank and Ethel (Chapman) Roe. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Feb.25, 1959, he married the former Frieda Kanady.
Everett loved cars, especially drag racing and working on them. He was a retired bus driver. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Frieda of Shawneetown, two sons, Ray (Penny) Stanley of Harrisburg and Everett Jr. (Anne) Roe of Lebanon, Tenn.; three daughters, Sharon (Steve) Gwaltney of Carmi, Carolyn (Carlos) Sanders of Shawneetown and Tina (Jason) Hubbard of Junction; two brothers, Edgar Roe of Junction and Henry Roe of Equality; seven grandchildren, Andrea May, Chrissy Boston, Gary Stanley, Jaron Roe, Jaci Hubbard, Jackson Van Dyke and Rex Sanders; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Mike, Bert, Tommy and Louis Roe; a sister, Ruth Smith; a grandson, Preston Roe; and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Stanley.
Visitation for Everett will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at the Church of God in Shawneetown where the family will receive friends after noon. The Rev. Keith Moore will officiate and interment will be in the Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
