OBITUARY: Donald "Duck" Nolen
Donald "Duck" Nolen, age 87 of Carrier Mills, passed away peacefully 9:30 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2015, in the Carrier Mills Nursing Home with his loving family at his side.
Don was born on May 18, 1927, in Carrier Mills to the late Othar Nolen and Ida (Gee) Nolen.
He was married to the former Ruby A. Short on July 3, 1958, and she preceded him in death on May 12, 2004.
Don was protestant by faith and a retired carpenter.
He is survived by daughters, Carla (Jim) Kirkland of Carrier Mills and Geri (Richard) Morgan of Carrier Mills; his grandsons, Calen Kirkland, Wyatt Kirkland, Eli Morgan, Luke Morgan and Gabe Morgan who affectionately knew him as "Paw Paw or Duck", and his special grand-girls Kayla, Kayla, Jackie and Micalea.
He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Dunn of Harrisburg; Johnnie Wilkins of Carrier Mills; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sisters, Helen Bernice and Norma Jean.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Stan Irvin officiating.
Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the funeral home.
