Prep Baseball: Bulldogs, Eagles post wins on diamond
Harrisburg took care of Shawnee 5-0 Wednesday, hours after they dropped Massac County 12-1 at Dorris Heights in prep baseball action.
Bryce Emery (3-3) got the win over Shawnee with a three-hit complete game performance on the bump for the Bulldogs. Emery struck out five over seven innings, while walking one.
Harrisburg (16-11) roped out seven hits on the day as Matthew Phipps, Sykes Thompson, Cooper Thompson, Noah Vallette, Austin Hefner, Aaron Johnson and Emery all had one hit.
Phipps, Cooper Thompson and Henfer each had a double, while Cooper Thompson and Johnson each had an RBI.
Harrisburg 12, Massac County 1
The Bulldogs moved to 4-5 in Southern Illinois River-to-River Ohio Division play after pounding the Patriots 12-1 Tuesday night.
Phipps improved to 3-2 on the season, going five innings to get the win. The senior and Olney Community College signee scattered four hits, allowing one run, while striking out five and walking one.
Hefner was one of five other Bulldogs to get a hit as Hefner went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
Britton Riden, Phipps, Sykes Thompson and Vallette all had a hit and drove in two runs, while Emery went 1-for-1.
Harrisburg will wrap up the week Friday at Carbondale.
Eldorado 6, Woodlawn 3
The Eldorado baseball team doubled up Woodlawn Tuesday, knocking of the Cardinals 6-3.
Eldorado used six pitchers in the win over Woodlawn as Richard Graceffa, Stanton Hathaway, Christian Dalton, Drew Woolcott, Max Kaisar and Adam Collier all saw mound time.
The six combined for five hits and three earned runs, while striking out five and walking five.
Eldorado had just five hits as Josh Pilkington Connor Watt, Kasiar, Woolcott and Hathaway each had a base knock.
Woolcott (1-for-3) finished with two RBI, while Hathaway (1-for-2) drove in one and scored two runs. Kaisar (1-for-3) had the other RBI, while Collier scored two runs.
Eldorado jumped out to a 1-0 lead before Woodlawn knotted the game with a run in the top of third.
The Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the third and tacked on three more in the bottom of the fifth.
