Donald Michael Rider

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Donald Michael Rider, 69, of 111 Baltimore St., Ridgway, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

He was born Feb. 21, 1940, in Junction, the son of Burtis Leo and Mary Alfreda (Berkel) Rider. Don married Sharon Williams on Jan. 11, 2002.

He delivered bulk fuel for Knapp Oil Co. and was an avid fisherman. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596. Don was also a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ridgway.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Ridgway; a daughter, Angie and Gene Johnson of Ridgway; one sister, Joan Horn of Carmi; four grandchildren, Austin, Alisha, Chelsea and Aaron; and several nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Penny Hathaway; four brothers, James Richard, Paul Louis, Joe and William Harold Rider; and a nephew, Scotty Parker.

Visitation for Don will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, with Father Mark Stec officiating. Burial will be at St Patrick Cemetery with military rites by Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596.
