OBITUARY: Doris Ann (Weber) Brown
Doris Ann (Weber) Brown, 87, passed away at her daughter's home in Dittmer, Mo., on April 18, 2015.
She was born on March 9, 1928, in Aurora, Wis., to John and Gerda (Roos) Weber. She attended
Golden Rule grade school in Aurora, Wis., and moved to Chicago with two good friends after graduating from Kingsford High School in 1946. This is where she met and married James Brown Jr., originally from Eldorado, on July 27, 1946.
Doris was a civilian employee at Fort McCoy in Tomah, Wis., where she retired in 1990. She loved working in her gardens, spending time on her pontoon boat on Nolin Lake, Ky., and visiting with her family. One of her favorite past times was floating down the Menominee River in Aurora.
She leaves her three children, Brenda (Kirk) Meinen of Dittmer, Mo., Gwen (Alan) Copeland of Woodbury, Tenn., and Steven (Marilyn) Brown of New Albany, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Katie) Meinen, Dain (Leslie) Copeland, Amanda (Jimmy Grimmett) Meinen, Will Copeland, Jed (Tabitha) Copeland, Eric Brown, Samantha Desume and Amber Phillips; 4 ½ great-grandchildren, Aubriana Meinen, Isaiah Meinen, Carver Copeland, Silas Copeland and baby Meinen due in September, 2015. Doris is also survived by her sister, Margaret Olson; and sisters-in-law, Deloris Weber and Gerri Weber.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James Brown; three brothers, George, Bob and Edward; one sister, Janet Lucas; brothers-in-law, Wilbourn Blackwell, Hugh Brown, AJ Lamb, Harry Lucas and Ronald Olson; sisters-in-law, Virginia Brown, Christina Foster, Evelyn Lamb and Betty Weber; and one granddaughter, Erin Copeland.
Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Watson's Funeral Home in Eldorado. The funeral will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Wolf Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Matthew Meinen, Dain Copeland, Amanda Meinen, Will Copeland, Jed Copeland and Eric Brown.
