</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Samuel K. Read, 80, rural McLeansboro, died 1:20 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at Gholson Funeral Home, McLeansboro. Visitation is 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, the former Judy Phillips; two sons; six daughters; a brother; a sister; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
