Obituary: Mary Alice Gaskins

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Alice Gaskins, 101, of Princeton, Ky., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at the home of her niece in Princeton, Ky.

Mary Alice was born on June 14, 1910, in Earlington, Ky., to the late Lucian Oregan Hamby and Leta Jane (Cannon) Hamby. She married John Thad Gaskins, and he preceded her in death. Mary Alice was a clerical worker for the water department.

Mary Alice is survived by three grandchildren, Julie Franklin, Joan Roland and Jorja Gaskins; four great-grandchildren, Chris Roland, Shannon Roland, Megan Franklin and Erin Franklin; four nieces, Mary Leta Flather, Leta Jane Reinhardt, Marjorie Loftus and Susan Howton; and two nephews, Roy Small and Jack Hamby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, John Thad Gaskins III; daughter, Martha Homme; grandson, Brett Homme; five brothers, Clyde, Rex, Earl, William and L.O. Hamby; and one sister, Margaret Small.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Richard Bosecker will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harrisburg First Christian Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
