Obituary: James G. Sutton

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Longtime grain and livestock farmer, James G. Sutton, 89, of Norris City, passed away at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at his residence.

James was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Norris City, Herald Prairie Township, the son of John A. and Mary (Newcomb) Sutton. He married Myrtle McGhee on Nov. 6, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. James was a 1940 graduate of Norris City High School and owned and operated Sutton Farms. He was a member of Plainview General Baptist Church.

James is survived by his wife of 70 years, Myrtle; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mick Colbert of Norris City; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Mary Beth Sutton, Bob and Jo Sutton and Roger and Nancy Kay Sutton, all of Norris City and David and Marsha Sutton of McLeansboro; a sister, Emma Noe Holliday of Russellville, Ky.; 14 grandchildren, Kurt and Valissa Sutton, Kerry and Gretchen Sutton, Courtney and Jeff Neal, Lora and Chris Marsh, Mark and Angie Colbert, Alexa and Todd Hortin, Afton and Craig Poole, Heather and Matt Vollman, Holly and Brad Vinyard, Andy and Bethany Sutton, Rhonda and Kelly Forston, Rachel Roberson, Kim and Cory Fuqua and Kory and Chelsea Sutton; five step-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Aaron and Kissy Weaver, Chris Russell and Janet Bond; 30 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Sutton and Lula Aud Barnett; and three brothers, John Sutton Jr., Wayne Sutton and Harold Sutton.

Funeral Services for James G. Sutton, 89, of Norris City will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Plainview General Baptist Church with the Rev. Matt Vollman, the Rev. Mike Sutton and the Rev. Josh Slater officiating. Burial will be in the Plainview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Plainview General Baptist Church near Norris City.
