Obituary: Parvin Koker

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Parvin Elliot Koker, 71, of Paducah, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at home surrounded by his family. He died from complications associated with Pompe disease.

He was born on March 10, 1940, in Union City, Ky., to Gus and Ida Mae (Overfield) Koker. He was a 1958 graduate of Eldorado High School and a member of the 1957 State Football Champion team. He was married to Connie Riley on March 23, 1962. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 65. He graduated from Southeastern Illinois College, Harrisburg, in 1977. He retired from Peabody Eagle No. 2 Coal Mine, Shawneetown. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) where he served as secretary. He enjoyed traveling, square dancing, hunting and just about any outdoor activity as well as spending time with his family and friends. He was thankful for the opportunity to spend his final winters at Sugar Mill Ruins Campground, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., where he was elected president of the campground association, planning and attending so many activities with his dear friends. He was a member of the RLDS Church, Tunnel Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years; their three daughters, Kellie Koker of Paducah, Ky., Trisha Koker (Terry Bartley) of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and Tara Koker-Noia (Paul Noia) of Cincinnati, Ohio; his sisters, Mable Pierce and Diannia Woods; his brother, Earl Koker; and cherished pets, Pepper and Spike.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James Koker, John Koker and Gilbert Coker.

Parvin was a kind and giving man. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was loved by all who had the great pleasure of knowing him. He will be so greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at the Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Glen Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Cemetery in Tunnel Hill.
