Obituary: Marie Lowery
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Marie Lowery, 90, lifelong resident of Shawneetown, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, in the Fountainview Nursing Home after a long illness.
Marie was born in Shawneetown on April 4, 1921, to the late McKinley and Lillian (Talkington) Smith. Marie was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown. She was married to Roy Lowery, who preceded her in death. Marie loved the outdoors especially flowers, birds, and butterflies, she loved music but mostly she loved her family and children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.
Marie is survived by two sons, Jim (Susan) Lowery of Cave-In-Rock and David Ralph and the late Diane Lowery of Shawneetown; two daughters, Alice (Charlie) Belt of Morganfield, Ky. and Lillian and the late Jim Estes of Sturgis, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lowery; two sons, Bud and Roy Kenneth Lowery; and a daughter, Wynonia Lowery.
Visitation for Marie will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown and the funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at the funeral home. The Rev. Butch Goins will officiate and interment will follow at the Webber Campground Cemetery near Galatia.
