Obituary: Betty McDonald

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Betty McDonald, 83, of Mooreville, N.C., formerly of Carrier Mills, died 4:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Genesis Health Care in Mooreville, N.C.

She was born May 24, 1928, in Carrier Mills to Tom King and Emma (Randall) King. She married Guy McDonald on Jan. 15, 1945. He preceded her in death Dec. 2, 1996.

She was a retired beautician and member of the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills.

She is survived by a son, David (Carol-Faye) McDonald of Denver, N.C.; grandchildren, David McDonald Jr., Christina McDonald, Jim (Kim) McDonald, Jonathan (Lindsay) McDonald, Joshua (Erin) McDonald and Joseph "J.J." (Lacey) McDonald; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son; Martin L. "Marty" McDonald; and a brother, Ishmael King.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, with the Rev. Jonathan McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be held 9:30 a.m. to service time.
