Two accused in Carrier Mills gunplay incident in custody
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Saline County Sheriff's Office has taken into custody the two men charged in an incident of gunplay in Carrier Mills Aug. 3 at the 405 E. Washington St. residence of Vearn Guyton Jr.
The sheriff's office took Roy Antonio Johnson, 24, Tamms, into custody Sept. 6 and Andrew Derrell Johnson, 25, Marion, Sept. 26, according to the Saline County Detention Center booking log. The two face charges of home invasion, armed robbery, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Authorities contend the men entered the 405 E. Washington St. residence of Vearn Guyton Jr. and struck Cortez Ellis in the head with a firearm in the course of an altercation. The firearm brandished by Roy Antonio Johnson discharged during the altercation, according to formal charges filed Aug. 10.
Both men remain held at the Saline County Detention Center on $50,000 cash bond.
At 12:11 A.M. Aug. 3, an anonymous female called 911 to report shots fired around 405 E. Washington St., according to a news release from Carrier Mills Police Chief Billy Duncan. Carrier Mills Police responded and turned the investigation over to the Saline County Sheriff's Office.
Jeremy Saltzman apparently was taken to the ground at gunpoint by four or five people outside the residence. One of the attackers put a knife to his throat and demanded he show them how to get inside the house, according to Duncan's report.
The two men are accused of stealing an SKS rifle, one Mosberg 12-gauge shotgun and one Ruger 1022 rifle, according to the formal charges.
