Fresh from the farm: A market boom in Cambridge

Heidi Reinhard wiggles into a tomato costume and then adjusts the carrot-shaped hat on her head.

"If I didn't have to wear the tomato costume, I wouldn't," she said - then shrugged and declared, "Whatever I can do to pull them in!" before marching off to flag down pedestrians on the bustling Mass. Ave. sidewalks nearby.

Reinhard is the manager of the Central Square Farmers' Market that convenes every Monday afternoon in Parking Lot Five, at the corner of Bishop Allen Drive and Norfolk Street. Wearing the tomato costume is one way to attract new customers.
