Seats remain for Spring, 2015 Ozark Tour
A few seats remain available for the Spring, 2015 Ozark Tour: "Wildflowers and Waterfalls," on Saturday, April 18.
The tour is jointly sponsored by the United States Forest Service, Illinois Ozarks (formerly Hardin County Main Street), Gallatin County Tourism and the River-to-River Trail Society.
By bus and foot, guides will escort members of the tour to banks of spring wildflowers, and to a number of the area's most beautiful waterfalls, according to a release from the River-to-River Trail Society.
The $40 cost of registration includes two meals, bus transportation and a commemorative T-shirt. Because there will be some walking to reach the attractions, participants should be in good health and wear clothing suitable for outdoor physical activity. Boots or sturdy shoes are highly recommended. For information and to register, call (618) 287-4333 or register online at info@illinoisozarks.com.
The Ozark Tour was the brainchild of L.O. Trigg, former owner of the Eldorado Daily Journal who tirelessly promoted the scenic beauty of Southern Illinois. The tours continued for many years after Trigg's death but had been discontinued until the Forest Service revived the tradition in 2013.
