Carol Ann Holland

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Carol Ann Holland, 64, of Edwardsvllle, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at her home.

Born Aug. 29, 1944, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of Charles R. and Elaine (Baugher) Gardner and they preceded her in death.

An educator, she taught and retired from Centralia High School. She also served as faculty advisor for Phi Beta Lambda. She served, along side her husband in their ministries in the communities of Salem, Chester, Mount Vernon and Vandalia. While at Grace United Methodist Church in Salem, she was Involved with Bells of Grace. She also enjoyed traveling and dancing with her husband Dowain.

She was married to Rev. Arthur D. Holland, July 7, 1964, in Harrisburg, and he preceded her in death Aug. 2, 1991. She then married Dowain McKiou, Sept. 5, 1998, in Salem and he survives in Edwardsville

Also surviving are Gardner (Beverly) Holland, her son of Edwardsville; Emily Holland, her daughter of Edwardsville; John (Gayla) Gardner, her brother of Harrisburg; Brian Gardner, her brother of Alton; Arthur Holland, her father-in-law of Harrisburg; Ruth Upchurch, her aunt of Galatia; Nella Mae (Gene) Schlau, her aunt of Centralia; her granddaughter, Anna Holland of Edwardsville; also, nieces Erin, Natalie and Sydney.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Grace United Methodist Church in Salem with the Rev. Robert R. Smith, the Rev. Robert Edwards, the Rev. William B. Lewis, the Rev. Earl Renshaw, the Rev. Sheryl Palmer, the Rev. Murriel Nance and the Rev. Tom Corum officiating. Burial will follow at Lindale Memorial Gardens in Eldorado.

Visiting hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Grace United Methodist Church in Salem and from 9 a.m. until the service hour at the church on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009.

Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund in Salem or to St. John's United Methodist Church in Edwardsville and will be accepted by the Rankin Funeral Home that is in charge of arrangements.
