Mabel S. Burroughs
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mabel S. Burroughs, 96, of Junction, passed away 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.
She was born in Junction on Sept. 6, 1912, to Alex R. and Johannah A. (Black) Burroughs.
Mabel was a homemaker and a secretary at B and W Coal Mine in Junction and a member of First Baptist Church in Shawneetown.
She is survived by two sons, Glen Burroughs of Eldorado and Michael Speer of Junction; two grandchildren, Robin Richardson of Shawneetown and Shane and Heather Burroughs of Eldorado; and one great-grandson, Noah Richardson.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elsie Simmons and Helen Elsasser; five brothers, George, Earl, Lowell, Ray and Jess Burroughs; and a daughter-in-law, Alice Burroughs.
Visitation for Mabel will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, with the Rev. Roy Dale Orr officiating. Burial will follow the services at Leamington Cemetery near Junction.
