Charles J. 'Red' Tucker

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles J. "Red" Tucker, 74, 551 Main St., Junction, passed away at his residence, at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008.

He was born in Old Shawneetown on Oct. 6, 1934, to Charlie and Opal (Brison) Bowles. Red retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a mine construction worker. He was Vietnam War veteran. He married Ruby Rushing on Aug. 21, 1981, who survives.

Red is also survived by children, Cheryl, David and Kimberly; stepchildren, Jerry and Danny; three sisters, Lorene Patrick of McLeansboro, Velma "Sis" and Chester "Checker" Darnell of Shawneetown and Doris "Tiny" and Gene Dodd of Shawneetown; three brothers, Harrison and Lela Tucker of Evansville, Ind., Bob and Jane Tucker of Eldorado and Fred and Ester Tucker of Equality; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents; four sisters; four brothers; and stepson, Michael Marshall.

Visitation for Red will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, with the Rev. James R. Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westwood Cemetery with military honors.
