Guelda Huber

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Guelda Huber, nee Quinn, 99, of Freeburg, born Dec. 11, 1908, in Jefferson County, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg.

Guelda was a sales clerk, retired from Mavrakos Candy Company in St. Louis, Mo. During World War II, she worked in a defense plant in St. Louis and was known as "Rosie, the Riveter."

Mrs. Huber was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Huber; her parents, Dollie and Grace, nee Wells, Quinn; two sisters, Wanda Hayes and Buleah Shain; three brothers, Donald, Quinn, Harold Quinn and Eugene Askew; two siblings in early childhood; and a nephew, David Shain.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Nancy Ragsdale of Kirkwood, Mo.; a stepgrandson, Steve Huber; two sisters, Vema Blacknan and Neva Fitzsimmons; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, with the Rev. Doug Stewart officiating.

Burial will be at South Hickory Hills Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
