OBITUARY: Edna Juanita Parsons

Edna Juanita Parsons, age 98 of Eddyville, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.

Celebration of life will begin with Order of the Eastern Star service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville. Pastor Jerry Wells will conduct the service. Burial will follow the service at Boulden Cemetery near Eddyville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services on Saturday.

Juanita was born Oct. 9, 1916, in Pope County to Mary Catherine (Rumsey) Moyers and William Cort Moyers. She was an only child. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Juanita and Leslie Lowell Parsons were married at a double wedding ceremony with Cressie and Bernice (Smith) Ragan in Corinth, Miss., on Nov. 18, 1949. Leslie preceded her in death on June 24, 2003.

She was a Pope County High School graduate. Juanita was employed by the Pope County Government, Pope County Farm Bureau office and the ASCS Office in Golconda until her retirement. She will long be remembered as a kind and loving person with a very unselfish disposition to all. As a child Juanita attended church with her parents at Cumberland Presbyterian Church (now Boulden Church) near Eddyville in the Cedar Grove Community, and later joined the Cedar Grove Social Brethren Church with Leslie. She served as Treasurer for Boulden Cemetery for many years. She was a member of Rebekah lodge and Eddyville Order of the Eastern Star 1007. Juanita and Leslie had no children, but she devoted her entire life to loving and caring for others.
