Obituary: Gladys Johnson

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gladys Johnson, 77, formerly of Springfield, passed away 8:40 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at the home of her son, Rupert Johnson of Harrisburg.

Gladys was born Nov. 14, 1934, in Colp, the daughter of Willard and Beatrice Jefferson Day. She was married to Alfred Johnson, who passed away Nov. 22, 2011. Gladys retired from Memorial Hospital in Springfield after working 22 years in housekeeping.

Surviving her are two sons, Rupert and Patti Johnson of Harrisburg and Allen and Bonnie Johnson of Springfield; two daughters, Saron Johnson and Nikki (Kenny) Burge both of Springfield; one brother, Ray Day of Herrin; one sister, Mae Bunch of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alfred Johnson; a son, Gerald Johnson; three brothers William (Salt), Alfred and Floyd Day; and four sisters, Willa Mae Lillie, Helen Sibbles, Ruth Spalding and Bernice Beller.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Johnson and the Rev. Alvis Lanton officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
