OBITUARY: Mary Beth (Gray) Humm
The lord needed a very special angel today, so he took Mary Beth (Gray) Humm, who was five weeks shy of her 92nd birthday. She was born in Walpole on May 7, 1923, to Moody Franklin and Mary Eva (Oglesby) Gray.
She graduated from Harrisburg High School and was a letter girl in the marching band. Beth attended her 73rd high school reunion this past year. She continued her education at U of E.
She married her high school sweetheart, John, in 1945. They were blessed to be able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Beth enjoyed her time teaching pre-school for seven years, and was past president of Fairlawn P.T.A. She was fortunate enough to see all 7 continents and travel extensively all over the world. Beth was a Kentucky Colonel. She attributed her longevity to walking with her dog "Suggie" 1 mile every day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1996, and four sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Sinclair of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Melodee Lindsay (Justin) of Newburgh, Ind.; son, Bill (Gaby) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Susan Swayze (Mike), Heather Sinclair, Scot Lindsay, Angie Williams (Jeremy) and Ashley Humm; six great-grandchildren, Megan Swayze, Brittanee Sinclair, Sky Lindsay, NoaBeth Sinclair-Niko, Ethan, Luke and Emma Williams. She was expecting her first great-great-grandson, Sawyer, in July 2015.
At our mother's request, there will be a "Celebration of Life" at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society, P.O. Box 6711, Evansville, Ind. 47719.
