OBITUARY: Dean Henshaw

Dean Henshaw, age 82 years, a resident of rural Simpson, passed away 7:17 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at his home.

Dean was born Oct. 23, 1932, in the Karbers Ridge community. He was the son of Ernest and Pearl (Jenkins) Henshaw.

On Feb. 11, 1956, Dean was united in marriage to Mary Louise Favors in Manteno. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 1990.

Dean is survived by: his children - Jackie Dean (Beth) Henshaw of Simpson, Julia Ponton of Vienna, Martha (Bob) Crane of Harrisburg, and Ernie (Tricia) Henshaw of Vienna; grandchildren - Jack (Amber) Henshaw of Murray, Kentucky, Jimmy Henshaw of Simpson, Joe (Tammy) Henshaw of Anna, Kasey (Chad) Long of Cypress, Lee (Lisa) Miller of Vienna, Sara (Todd) Tripp of Bunbcombe, Ashley Henshaw of Vienna and Austin Henshaw of Vienna; great grandchildren - Corban, Gadden, Chelsea, Taleah, Faith, Jordan, Natalie, Clayton, Larrah, Lennah, Ellie and Evie; two brothers - Carl (Mary) Henshaw of Mesa, Ariz., and Garry (Donna) Henshaw of Marquette, Mich.; two sisters-in-law - Phyllis Henshaw of Manteno and Dolores (Romaine) Gregg of Peotone; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dean was preceded in death by two brothers - Charles Henshaw and Vonnie Henshaw; a sister - Floetta Hill; and a brother-in-law - Jesse Hill.

Dean was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a former member of the Carrier Mills American Legion Post No. 364.

Dean worked as a cement finisher on construction projects throughout Illinois. In his spare time, Dean enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He also raised cattle with his son-in-law, Bob.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Ernie Henshaw and Jack Henshaw will officiate.

Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, near Buncombe. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post No. 5222 and the Illinois National Guard Burial Honors Detail.

Visitation will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
