Rep. Phelps brings IDNR director to SIC

State Representative Brandon Phelps (D-Harrisburg) announced that he will be hosting newly appointed Illinois Department of Natural Resources Chief Wayne Rosenthal for a meet and greet event with local conservationists. The event will be held at 3 p.m. on April 8 at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, according to a release from Phelps' office.

"I'm excited to welcome my former colleague, Director Wayne Rosenthal to the 118th District to meet with my constituents and fellow conservationists," Phelps said, in a prepared release. "Issues regarding hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities are important to Southern Illinois and I know that Director Rosenthal shares those passions."

The purpose of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is to manage, conserve and protect Illinois' natural, recreational and cultural resources, further the public's understanding and appreciation of those resources, and promote the education, science and public safety of Illinois' natural resources for present and future generations. Wayne Rosenthal was appointed director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Prior to his appointment, Rosenthal was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives since 2011. The event will allow local conservationists a chance to meet the new director and to discuss issues they feel are important with regards to Illinois' natural resources.

"I'm thankful to Director Rosenthal's willingness to listen to local residents and fellow conservationists," Phelps said, in the prepared release. "I'm eager to get to work with the director and this event will be a great first step in working to preserve Southern Illinois' natural resources."

Brandon Phelps represents the 118th District in the Illinois General Assembly, which includes all or portions of Alexander, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jackson, Johnson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, Saline and Union counties.
