UPDATE: Carlwell announces he's leaving Illinois

Illinois center Brian Carlwell, who suffered a severe concussion in a car crash as a freshman, has left the basketball team and decided to transfer, the school announced Wednesday.

The 6-foot-11 center played a total of five minutes in three games this season. A November knee sprain sidelined him for the bulk of this season.
