Prep Softball: Splitting Hairs
The Harrisburg softball team split a pair of games at the Harrisburg Invitational over the weekend, knocking off Galatia-Thompsonville 14-3 and lost earlier to Johnston City 13-5.
The Bulldogs 2-1 on the season, got a complete-game performance from freshman Matty Hawkins in the win over G-T.
Hawkins (2-0) went five innings, striking out seven and allowing one earned run, while giving up six hits.
At the dish, Mckenzie Sullivan was 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Abby Dalton was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI. Raelynn Boma was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Hawkins finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.
For the Bearcats, Kennedy Harris and Elizabeth Sloan each went 2-for-3, while each drove in a run. Katie Linsley was 1-for-2 and Kylee Brown went 1-for-3.
In Harrisburg's loss to Johnston City, Mckenzie Payne finished 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Gillian Jones and Boma each went 2-for-4. Dalton and Hawkins each had a hit and Hawkins finished with an RBI.
