Prep Hoops: Amaya named All-Conference
Harrisburg's Bahari Amaya was one of nine Ohio Division basketball players to make the River-To-River All-Conference team as announced at Wednesday night's meeting.
Amaya was recently named to the Honorable Mention Associated Press Class 2A All-State Basketball Team.
Amaya, a 6-foot-5 senior shooting guard who has signed with Division II Illinois-Springfield, led the Bulldogs in scoring at 23 points per game. He finished with 1,272 career points that ranks him seventh on the all-time scoring list and he shot 58 percent from the field for a Bulldog ballclub that went 18-11 this season, falling in the regional finale to Fairfield.
Other players that represented the Ohio Division included, Murphysboro's Devante Jones, Braden Miller and Daryl Murphy, along with Benton's Derek Oxford and Brendan Ritchason. West Frankfort's Christian Dunning and Hunter Johnson, joined Massac County's Jalen Roundtree and Herrin's DJ Spell.
On the Mississippi side, Royce Newman, a 6-foot-7 junior center that was named to the AP Class 2A All-State 2nd team, was joined on the All-Conference list with teammates, Dylan Mueller and Daniel Thorson.
Carterville placed brothers Will and Matt Galik on the All-Conference list. Will Galik joined Amaya on the AP Honorable Mention Team.
Pinckneyville placed Nolan Luke, Tristan Fisher and Brian Taylor on the squad along with Anna-Jonesboro tandem of Noah Fuller and Zach Parr.
