Du Quoin firemen suit up to rescue dog that falls through ice at city lake
On Tuesday at approximately 5:47 p.m. Sheriff Steve Bareis said a call came into the Perry County Sheriff's Office in reference to a dog having fallen through the ice at the Du Quoin City Lake near Lilly Pad lane.
City Lake resident Craig Smith observed that a border collie mix had fallen through the ice on the lake. Perry County Sheriff's Department deputies and members of the Du Quoin Fire Department responded to the scene.
Sheriff Bareis said fireman Jordan Crain and Adam Hill suited up for a water rescue. They entered the lake and were able to bring the dog to safety. The dog's owner, Megan Jones, was thankful for our first responders quick and proficient response to save her dog.
