Obituary: Mary E. Evans

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary E. Evans, 82, of the Spring Valley community, passed away at 2:27 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2011.

Mary was born in Raleigh on Aug. 12, 1929, to the late John and Clara (Rude) Pingleton. She married Bob E. Evans on Sept. 18, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1997. Mary was a member of Spring Valley Church.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Sharon Gall and husband Michael of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Brian Parkhurst and wife Christine of Charleston, S.C. and Brad Gall of Harrisburg; sister, Gertrude Bishop; brother, Jessie "Cloyd" Pingleton and wife Martha of Galatia; and five sisters-in-law, Barbara Pingleton, Brenda Pingleton, Helen Evans, Jean Evans and Vickie Riley and husband Terry; two brothers-in-law, Rick Evans, and Randy Evans; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; and two sisters, Edith Violet and Clara Callahan; and two brothers, James Lloyd Pingleton and John R. Pingleton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate and burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Spring Valley Cemetery.
