Police pursuit ends with death of 27-year-old Eldorado man
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[An Eldorado man was killed in a traffic crash while attempting to flee Eldorado police early Thursday morning, according to investigating State Police troopers.
David Lee Genet, 27, of Eldorado died in the accident when his 2005 Hyundai Elantra left the roadway of state Route 142, striking a telephone box and several trees, according to State Police.
The single-vehicle accident occurred 12:34 a.m. Thursday south of Willow Lake Road, State Police said in a prepared release. Genet was pronounced dead at the scene by Saline County Coroner Jerry Watson.
In their preliminary report, troopers said the automobile was traveling at a high rate of speed with an Eldorado officer in pursuit. The officer, not identified in the report, was attempting to stop Genet for multiple traffic offenses, State Police said.
An Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Officer has been assigned to the investigation, State Police said.
