Obituary: Bessie 'Evelyn' Swader Etherton

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Bessie "Evelyn" Swader Etherton, 94, Carrollton, Texas, passed away in her home at 7:29 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011.

Evelyn was born Aug. 7, 1917, in Eldorado, Saline County. She was the only child of Thomas and Mary Swader. She graduated from Eldorado Township High School in 1936.

Evelyn married Raymon "Virgil" Etherton on Flag Day (June 14), 1946. She worked as a telephone operator, retiring from GTE in 1978. Throughout her life Evelyn lived in Eldorado, Evansville, Ind., LaPorte, Ind., W.Terre Haute, Ind., Marshall and Carrollton, Texas (with her daughter's family).

Among her interests were traveling, reading, sewing, crafting and collecting miniature village houses.

Evelyn was a member of Marshall First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Circle, Marshall Home Extension (Night Group), Marshall Historical Society and Retired Telephone Operator's Club.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Mary Etherton Vukusich, son-in-law, John J. Vukusich; and grandson, Jeremy Logan Vukusich.

She was predeceased by her husband, Virgil.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Pearce Funeral Home, Marshall. Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, with the Rev. David Deal Officiating. Burial will be at the Marshall Cemetery. For those so desiring memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Marshall Public Library.

Memories of her kind, patient, generous, fun-loving spirit will remain in our hearts forever&#8230;admired and cherished by family, friends, and her faithful doggie, Missy.
