Obituary: Gracella Mae Grossman (Gaskins)

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Gracella Mae Grossman (Gaskins), 78, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, near her home in Virginia Beach, Va.

She was born April 21, 1933, in Chicago, the daughter of M.B. and Hazel Gaskins, and granddaughter of Moses and Ella Gaskins, all from Harrisburg. She married Martin Grossman in 1957 in Chicago.

Gracella graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1951 and went on to graduate from nursing school in Chicago, where she remained until retiring to Florida, and then to Virginia after the death of her husband in 2003. She left Harrisburg as a young woman but kept in her heart many fond memories of the town and her friends, as Harrisburg was always considered home.

Surviving are her brother, Dick (Jackie) Gaskins; sister, Charlotte (Edward) Carone, both now living in the Chicago area; five children; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews in various locations throughout the country.

Burial took place in Sarasota, Fla., on Aug. 10.
