JUCO Softball: Falcons pull off split on diamond
The Southeastern Illinois Community college softball team split a pair of games Wednesday, knocking off Wood Community College 2-0 and falling to Olney Community College 10-0.
In the win against John Wood, Eldorado's Michaela Laswell picked up the win, going two innings, allowing no runs on one hit, while striking out one and walking two.
Galatia's Larissa Bond got the start, going three innings, striking out two and giving up one hit. Marion's Dakota Quertermous got the save in the circle, going two innings, striking out one and giving up a hit.
At the dish, the Falcons had six hits on the day as Maranda Chance and Bond led the way with two. Harrisburg's Ashley Ferrell had one and Katie Prizer had the other.
Ferrell and Prizer each drove in a run, scoring Marriah Smith (Harrisburg) and Chance in the fifth inning for the two runs that held up in the win.
Olney Community College shut down and shut out SIC 10-0 on the diamond Wednesday.
The Falcons had just three hits on the day as Eldorado's Ashton Unthank led SIC with two, while Quertermous had the other.
In the circle, Laswell took the loss, going 2.67 innings, allowing six earned runs on five hits, while walking two and striking out two.
Harleigh Krumrey (Marion) went 2.33 innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits and struck out one.
