The funds, distributed through Rural Development's Community Facility Grant program, will enable the village to install an emergency siren for both storm and fire emergencies, according to a news release from Rep. John Shimkus.
The village is providing $5,250 toward the total cost of the project.
"I congratulate the community for applying for and getting this federal grant," Shimkus said in the news release. "We have witnessed the importance of storm sirens and early notification earlier this year, as tornadoes did major damage in many places."
