Obituary: Cynthia E. 'Cindy' Moehlenkamp-Smith
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Cynthia E. "Cindy" Moehlenkamp-Smith, 57, a resident of Ozark, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, near Tunnel Hill, the result of an automobile accident.
Cindy was born Jan. 23, 1954, in Evansville, Ind. She was the daughter of James J. and Dorothy M. (Tonnemacher) Moehlenkamp.
Cindy was united in marriage to C. Lee Smith on June 10, 1978, in Evansville, Ind. He survives.
Other survivors include her children, James A. Smith and his wife Jessica of St. Louis, Mo., Elizabeth A. "Betsy" Stierwalt, and her husband Justin, of Champaign and Charles J. Smith and Elizabeth A. Cole of Fredericksburg, Va.; her grandchildren, Abigale, Jameson, Joshua, Reaghan, Rylen, and she was anticipating the birth of a grandchild in April 2012; two sisters, Marilyn Baehl and her husband Albert, of Booneville, Ind. and Susie Stephan of Booneville, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Minor and Charlie Hindman of Bandera, Texas and Mary Blessing and Ernie Jordan of Edmond, Okla.; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Ann Moehlenkamp and Margaret "Peggy" Moehlenkamp-Beaven; and a brother-in-law, Hank Stephan.
Cindy was a 1972 graduate of Rex Mundi High School in Evansville, Ind. She earned her bachelor of education degree at St. Louis University and master of outdoor recreation degree from Indiana University.
Cindy was an educator and had taught in the Johnson County Public School system.
Cindy had served as a counselor, program director and former board member for Camp Ondessonk youth camp at Ozark. She was also a longtime swimming and water safety instructor (W.S.I.) for children and youth throughout the region and had a great love of the outdoors.
Cindy was an active and faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church at Vienna where she also served on the parish council. Cindy's love of children was demonstrated also through her church work and she had actively worked with youth groups at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.
Cindy was devoted to her family and enjoyed "grandmothering."
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday morning, Aug. 22, 2011, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Vienna. Father Tom Barrett will officiate.
Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. with a prayer service Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
