Obituary: Mary Joan Horn

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Joan Horn, 67, longtime resident of Ridgway, died on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at the Wabash Christian Center in Carmi after an extended illness.

Joan, as most knew her, was born on the family farm east of Ridgway on Oct. 10, 1943, to the late Burtis and Alfreda (Berkel) Rider. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Joan had worked many years in housekeeping at Ferrell Hospital before retiring. Everyone that knew her will remember her kindness and how she always had a smile for you. Joan was a wonderful cook and enjoying cooking for her family. She was always happy when she was with her grandsons. Joan was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother, good sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Joan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Tyler Sidwell of Norris City; and two grandsons, Scott and Jonathan Sidwell of Norris City.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Parker in 1970; and her son, Scott Parker.

Visitation for Joan will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at the St. Patrick Cemetery east of Ridgway. Pastoral Assistant Jean Wills will officiate.
