OBITUARY: Laverne Marie “Vernie” Fry

Laverne Marie "Vernie" Fry, 75, resident of Eldorado, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Herrin Hospital.

Vernie was born in Ridgway Dec. 27, 1939, to the late Clarence Leo and Marcella "Sally" (Koester) Drone. She married Bill Fry who survives. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldorado where she was a member of the Alter Society and taught Religion Class for several years.

Vernie was the bookkeeper at NuWay Furniture for 52 years.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, John Fry of Eldorado; two daughters, Barb (Patrick) Boulds of Eldorado, Kim (Carter) Reed of Kentucky; three brothers, Ray (Charolette) Drone of Texas, Vic (Joy) Drone of Virginia, Joe (Nancy) Drone of Eldorado; three sisters, Sister Alicia Drone, ASC of Quincy, Sister Raphael Ann Drone, ASC of NJ, Ada Kelam of Eldorado; and five grandchildren, Matt Boulds, Jessica Boulds, Bradley Boulds, Garrett Reed and Libby Reed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Fry; and a sister, Margie Klaus.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldorado with Msgr. Joseph Lawler and Father Abraham Adejoh officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Matthew J. Fry Scholarship fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
