Charles Richard 'Dickie' Field
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles Richard "Dickie" Field, 60, Carrier Mills, passed away at his home 3:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, following an extended illness. He was surrounded by his family.
Charles was born Feb. 5, 1950, in Harrisburg to Charles Ray "Dude" Field and the late Pearl Jeanette Dallas Field.
He was retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
He attended Carrier Mills United Methodist Church. He was a retired member of the Carrier Mills Fire Department, past master of Blazing Star Lodge No. 458, 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Ainad Shrine. He was a charter member and past commander of the Carrier Mills Sons of the American Legion Post No. 364.
In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, Chris (Debbie) Field of Carrier Mills and Monty (Malinda) Field of Harrisburg; special friend, Angel Owen of Harrisburg; Natalie (Rheude) Hosick and Nathan Rheude, who were raised in his family home; five nieces, Elizabeth Lollis, Stephanie Wise, Courtney Field, Brandi Field and Kristin Field; two nephews, Ted Field and Derek Field; and several aunts and uncles.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded by special friends, Freda Rheude and Breanna Chaffin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Carrier Mills First United Methodist Church with Masonic rites at 6 p.m. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at the church with the Rev. Stan Irvin officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Carrier Mills First United Methodist Church Building fund, the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
