James H. 'Jiggs' Devillez

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[James H. "Jiggs" DeVillez, 84, 365 DeVillez Road, Harrisburg, died 7:08 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at his residence.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado with the Rev. Chris Winkleman and the Rev. Russell Helton officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery with military rites by the Eldorado American Legion and the Eldorado Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, with Masonic rites at 7 p.m.

He was born May 30, 1926, at Wasson, the son of Harry and Mary Lucy (Bramlet) DeVillez. On June 1, 1947, he married the former Juanita Wren, who survives.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a fireman first class. He was a businessman who operated a service station in Eldorado for several years and was employed with the Department of Mines and Minerals for 23 years. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

He was a life member of Eldorado American Legion Post. No. 169; a life member of the Eldorado VFW Post No. 3479; a member of the Eldorado Masonic Lodge No. 730 A.F. and A.M; a Shriner of Harrisburg and East Alton; and a member of the Eastern Star.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Rita Kay (Greg) Fifer of Ozark; sisters, Ruth Carter of Wasson and Sue Ann Hanel of Harrisburg; two sisters-in-law, Beth DeVillez of Paducah, Ky., and Virginia DeVillez of Harrisburg; one grandson, Alexander Paul Fifer; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Harold DeVillez.
