Mary Elam

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Mary Elam, 73, went home to be with the Lord at 2 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010.

She was born on March 21, 1937, on the family farm in the Pierson community, the daughter of Clarence and Jeanette Webb Moore. She married Arnold "Ampy" Elam on Oct. 31, 1955, and he survives.

Mary was a homemaker and loved gardening and canning vegetables and fruits. She was a Baptist by faith and a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.

Mary is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Ampy; one son, Arnold Lee and fiance, Linda Martinez of Pittsburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Todd Horton of Harrisburg; one sister, Wanda Moore of Harrisburg; one sister-in-law, Ollie Moore of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren, Amanda Beard of Newburgh, Ind., Christopher Elam of Galatia, Terra Horton, Travis Horton, Trevor Horton and Kayla Elam, all of Harrisburg, Gena Kroger of Warrensburg, Mo., Jonathan Brown of Mount Vernon, Melinda Mitchell of Creal Springs and Amanda Martinez of Pittsburg.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Bill Moore.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Barry Bascom officiating and burial in Pierson Cemetery south of Harrisburg. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
