Selma Hamilton
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Selma Hamilton, 87, of Harrisburg, affectionately known as Mimi by family members, passed away 8:05 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
She was born July 7, 1923, in Quincy, the daughter of Ray and Bernice Putnam Hamilton.
Selma worked for several years as retail clerk at Hart's Department Store and later worked for Sears taking phone orders. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. Selma enjoyed hiking nature trails, traveling and caring for her yard.
Surviving are a daughter, Laura Fleming of Harrisburg and a son, Dick Burch of Mansfield; a granddaughter, Andrea Boyett, and a great-granddaughter, Brittany Boyett, both of Ft. Smith, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Hamilton; and two sisters, Lucille Hall and Frances Burnett.
Selma donated her body to the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. A private memorial service will be held. J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
